Three Porsche Cars to Look Out For in 2012: A Brief Guide

Ever since the company’s inception in 1931 by its founder Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, the company has always pursued alternative directions to some of its competitor car manufacturers, breaking new ground and pioneering advances in technology and design. This is something that is still very prevalent and that Porsche continues to do in the modern era.

2012 has started with the Detroit Motor Show this month, where the luxury sports car manufacturer Porsche unveiled its eagerly awaited new Porsche 911 Cabriolet to the automotive press and the world stage. This all-new Porsche 911 Cabriolet has received a warm welcome by many pundits and automotive critics. Porsche Specialist Cyprus Nicosia

The Porsche 911 Cabriolet is one of the main models in the Porsche line-up – this new model will offer a superior open top driving experience from this luxury German manufacturer. This all-new 911 Cabriolet is different to many of its competitors because it features a new fabric hood, with a special light-weight magnesium frame.

This new Cabriolet by Porsche has an all-new designed chassis and body, plus a choice of new engines. These range from a 3.4-litre engine, which produces 345bhp, or you can go for the beefier 3.8-litre ‘S’ version, producing 393bhp. The beginning of the year sees Porsche offering these 911 Cabriolet models in two-wheel drive versions, but later in the year sees the four-wheeled drive version become available.

Another Porsche model to keep an eye out for in 2012 is the new 2012 Porsche Panamera GTS 2, a four door saloon. This is Porsche’s flagship luxury four-door saloon, which has evolved from the popularity of the previous Porsche Panamera around the world. The four-door luxury saloon market has been a real growth area for the Porsche brand. This new Panamera offers much more performance and handling compared to previous models in this four-door range.

The new 2012 Panamera GTS 2 features a new 4.8 litre V8 engine, which delivers 430bhp. This awesome engine is mated to a seven-speed double-clutch gearbox, which gives a smoother transfer throughout the power range. Performance is an awesome 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of around 178mph, proving this luxury four-door vehicle is not your average family saloon.

The other Porsche that is sure to make more headlines during this year is the Porsche Cayman R. It won the coveted title of Best Driver’s Car of 2011 by Autocar magazine last year and was shortlisted from the 17 other contenders competing for the prestigious award.

This new Cayman R has also been given the nickname of the “best B-Road thrash car”, which was awarded unofficially by the motor journalists who undertook the tests for the awards, for simply giving the driver the best excitement whilst driving on challenging roads.
